A Full Review of Vons Sushi Friday

vons sushi review

Vons is a supermarket chain with locations across southern California and Nevada. On certain Friday’s they have “Vons sushi Friday.

This means on various Friday’s throughout the year, one specific sushi roll that Vons sells is $5. So, not all sushi will be $5 and this deal will not happen each Friday.

If you don’t shop at Vons, you can also check the $5 sushi Wednesday at Sprouts Farmers Market, or the $5 sushi Wednesday at Publix

Better yet, you could go to Sprouts on Wednesday, then go to Vons on Friday if they are running their deal.

Each Friday though, Vons has what they call “Five Dollar Friday”. This means certain items in the store are discounted to five dollars.

This list of items is constantly changing, so make sure to check each week to see what the deals are.

✅ Is Vons Sushi Good?

When comparing Vons sushi to other supermarket sushi, it is good. We wouldn’t say it’s great, but it is good for grocery store sushi.

What makes Vons sushi good is the fact they have sushi chefs prepare the sushi fresh each day. Other supermarkets can’t say the same and nobody wants sushi was sitting around for a few days.

So, your favorite sushi spot to go to will probably be better than Vons sushi, but if you’re looking for a cheap Friday meal, Vons may just work for you.

Types of Sushi at Vons

Below are a few different types of sushi you can find at Vons on Friday and any other day of the week.

  • Spicy Tuna Roll
  • Avocado Roll
  • California Roll
  • Spicy California Roll
  • Cucumber Roll
  • Philly Roll
  • Rainbow Roll
  • Hawaii Sunset Roll
  • And more.

Their sushi can go fast on Friday, so your favorite roll can sometimes be out of stock by the time you get there.

Sometimes if you become friends with one of the chefs, they will take the time to make you your own personal sushi roll. Depending on what it is, it can still be $5 on Friday!

How to Make Vons Sushi Taste Better

One way to make your store bought sushi taste better is to put it in the microwave for no more than 30 seconds. This sounds gross, but it can work.

Put it in your microwave for 30 seconds at a power level of 500 watts. If you do not know how to adjust the power level of your microwave, it may be best to leave your sushi be.

Putting your sushi in the microwave at this power level can help make your rice fluffy and soft. This is generally how sushi restaurants serve their rice to you.

This won’t make your sushi taste the same as your favorite sushi spot, but it can help elevate your supermarket experience.

🥢 Try Out Vons $5 Sushi

For $5, we think you should give Vons Sushi a try. If you have someone in your family that does not like sushi, you can also get deli sandwiches for a similar price.

So next Friday, go check out Vons sushi to see if there is a $5 discount! If their isn’t a Vons near you, check out Sprouts or Publix on Wednesdays.
