Where do You Find Capers in the Grocery Store?

Short answer: You will generally find capers right next to the olives and pickles. Olive and pickles are in the condiment aisle.

So, whatever aisle has the ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce etc. should have capers in it as well.

Most grocery stores sell capers, but they usually do not have a large selection to choose from.

Below we will share a few grocery stores and where you can find capers in each.

Sprouts Farmers Market

In Sprouts farmers market you can find capers next to the olives and many different pickled items. When comparing Sprouts to other grocery stores, they have a larger selection of pickled products to buy.

Next to the pickled items, will be minced garlic and other condiments like ketchup and barbecue sauce.

Safeway

In Safeway you can find capers right next to the olives and pickles. Much farther down the aisle you will find condiments like barbecue sauce, ranch, etc.

King Soopers

In King Soopers, capers are located next to the olives and pickles as well. The capers aisle is also the condiments aisle, so be sure to look for the word “condiments” on the signs hanging from the ceiling.

Now You Have Them, How Do You Use Capers?

Below are a few different foods that go well with capers:

  • Salads,
  • Salmon,
  • Pasta,
  • Sandwiches,
  • Wraps,
  • Soups, and
  • More.

Capers are a great addition to many recipes bringing a nice boost in flavor. So, look for ways to incorporate these when trying out new dishes.

What is the Safest Way to Transport My Capers from the Store?

Capers from the grocery store usually come in a glass jar. This makes them very fragile to transport.

To make sure your capers do not break on the way home, make sure you set them in a stable position so they do not roll around in the car.

You can also put them in a bag with softer items like:

  • Chips
  • Breads,
  • Lightly weighted items that come in cardboard boxes, and
  • More.

How Long Do Capers Last?

Capers can last a few years if you store them properly and leave them unopened. Once you open your capers, you should store them in the fridge.

Once in the fridge, you can expect them to last roughly a year.
